Sharon K. Winkler

Sharon K. Winkler, 69, of Westville, passed away at 3:15pm, Sunday, September 16, 2018, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana. She was born the daughter of Hugh and Beulah {Richardson} Thomas on May 12, 1949 in Danville, IL. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Winkler on August 18, 1970, in Danville. He will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by: her son, Randy (Gloria) Winkler; her daughters, Michelle (Alan) Huber, & Tammy (Robert Parezo) Winkler; her granddaughters whom she raised as her daughters, Kaylee, Heather, & Faith Winkler; her brother, Charles (Leanna) Thomas of Bismarck; her seven grandchildren; her 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Lynn Rahn, three sisters, & six brothers. Sharon worked for nineteen years at the Walmart in Danville. She also worked as a teacher at Headstart Community Action for 25 years. She loved shopping, camping, reading romance novels, and crochet. She also loved taking long car rides and watching sporting events. She loved going to have her nails done for holidays and special events. Sharon was the type of person who never met a stranger and cherished her family and the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at 5:00pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, with Kevin Cox officiating. Visitation will be 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home. Per her wishes, Sharon will be cremated.
