Sharon Gillis

Sharon Gillis, 77, of Georgetown passed away at 12:28am, Monday, February 8, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She was born on May 1, 1943 in Danville, IL the daughter of James and Frances {Sparrow} Lawhorn. She was first wed to Sam Pegg, he preceded her in death. She later married Robert E. Gillis until his passing. She is survived by her children, Karen (Thomas) Thompson & Sammy (Kim) Pegg; her sister, Arlene Bennett; her grandchildren, Tisha (Brad) Pratt-Shaw, Dustin (Fallon) Pegg, Bubba (Ciara) Pratt, Jeremy Carlock & Tyler Fields; her great grandchildren, Abigail (Nick) Williams, Madison (Kaden) Baker, Addison Pegg, Alex Pegg, Dustin (Skylar) Pegg, Arianna Baker, Treyton Pratt, Brooklynn Shaw, Alexa Pratt, Ronsyn Pegg, Bryson Pegg, Jarred Brown, & Destanee Griffin; and her great-great grandchildren, Jaxon Williams, Kyler Carswell, & baby Jeremy Carlock. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James & Jerry Lawhorn; and two sisters, Sandra Divan & Connie Whited. Sharon retired from the VA Illiana Healthcare System where she was a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo, cooking, and playing cards. She cherished her time spent with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She adored and will be missed by her dog, Tiny. Sharon loved her family greatly and they will hold dear the memories she left behind. A Celebration of Sharons life will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Visitation will be held 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Sunday prior to her service at the funeral home. It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by those in attendance of the visitation and or service. She will be laid to rest in Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville at a later time. Memorial donations may be given in her name to donors choice of charity.
