Sharon Elaine Barnes

Sharon Elaine Barnes, 59 of Urbana formerly of Danville, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born May 25, 1956, the daughter of Jack & Ramona (Nicoson) Barnes in Danville. Sharon attended Cannon School, East Park and Danville High School. She also received an associate's degree from Danville Area Community College. She served 27 years in the Army National Guard and reached rank of First Sergeant HHC, 634th Brigade Support Battalion. She worked at Sam's Club as head of claims. For the past 6 years she has served as guardian angel and primary care giver for her big sister, Debbie Barnes Catron. Sharon is survived by her mother, Ramona Barnes, sister; Debbie Barnes Catron, two brothers; Rick Barnes of Danville and Jack Barnes of Bedford, Indiana, a niece and nephew, great nieces and nephews, aunts; Mary Ann Laub, Judy Jennings and Uncle Gene Barnes and Richard Nocoson, as well as many cousins. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Jack, grandparents; Theodore and Thelma Nicoson and John & Harietta Barnes as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears & the Illini, mushroom hunting and loved all animals especially her dogs, Bailey & Hope. A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
