Sharon 'Diane' Thomason, a beloved resident of Danville, peacefully passed away at the age of 74, on June 27, 2023, at 10:57 AM. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ralph Thomason of Danville, IL, and their children: Ryan (Heidi Holzinger) Thomason of Highland, IL, Darrin (Karrie) Thomason of Lucas, TX, Brandon (Kelly) Thomason of Troy, IL, and Suzanne Wade of Georgetown, IL. Diane also leaves behind thirteen cherished grandchildren: Katelyn, Emily, Owen, Kylee, Natalie, Silas, Gavin, Caleb, Colton, Alexander, Aliza, Stylz, and Lyra Beatrix Diane, as well as one great-grandchild, Larson.
Diane was born on December 8, 1948, in Danville, IL, to her loving parents, Fred and Dorothy (Redman) Goodner. On March 22, 1969, she married the love of her life, Ralph Thomason, in Danville. She is survived by her dear brother, Terry (Cathy) Goodner of Herrin, IL, and shared a close bond with her stepsisters, Gladys Joslin and Anna Mae Wallen in addition to her sister-in-law, Dorothy Goodner. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Gerald Goodner, Gene Goodner, Wendell Goodner, and Keith Goodner. She is also survived by her dear friends who held a special place in her heart: Bob and Rita Dartt, Lyle and Nyla Hicks, Linda Smith, Jackie Woods, Diane Schultz, Gayle VanVickle and neighbor girls Olivia and Kinsley.
Diane was an active member of Crossroads Christian Church and the Woman's Club of Bismarck. She pursued a fulfilling career as a Dental Assistant before transitioning to work at the Vermilion County Courthouse as a legal secretary in the Probation Division. Diane's passion for baking cookies, especially during the holidays, brought joy to her loved ones. She cherished cooking for her family, particularly her grandchildren, and found solace in flower gardening and crocheting.
A Celebration of Life honoring Diane's remarkable journey will take place on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Crossroads Christian Church, located at 3613 N Vermilion Street, Danville, IL, 61832. The ceremony will be officiated by Miles Clark, offering comfort and support to those in attendance. Following the service, Diane will be entombed at Sunset Memorial Park. Prior to the ceremony, visitation hours will be held from 2-4:00 PM on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Crossroads Christian Church.
The family has entrusted the compassionate staff of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834, to assist with the arrangements during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Diane's memory to organizations that held significance to her, such as American Cancer Society St. Louis, MO Hope Lodge, Crossroads Christian Church, or Barnes-Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, MO.
