GEORGETOWN - Selma F. Galyen, 94, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:00am, Monday, November 6th, 2006, while at her daughters home. She was born on January 5th, 1912, in Georgetown the daughter of Raymond and Blanche (Sheets) Richards. She was united in marriage to Dale Galyen on February 10th, 1934, in Georgetown. He preceded her in death on August 19th, 1977. Those who will miss Selma include: her children, Ron (Linda) Galyen of Hawthorne, FL, Kay (Mac) Sprouls of Georgetown, Judy (Bob) Larrance of Cayuga, IN, and Vanda (Richard) Lamar of Troy, MO; her daughter-in-law, Janet Galyen of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Kathy Atwood, Steve Galyen, Lisa Galyen, Lori Helwig, Aneita Dalbey, Guy Sprouls, Ken Sprouls, Michelle Gajewski, Teresa Smith, Lucas Lamar, Lauren Lamar, Doug Larrance, Tami Dixon, Cindy McDonald, and Tammy Thomas; her twenty-four great grandchildren; her nine great-great grandchildren; and many extended family. Her parents, her husband-Dale, her son-Deane, her daughter-Marilyn Sue, her brothers-Vernon, Otis & Russell Richards, and sister-Marjorie Buhoveckey, preceded Selma in death. Selma graduated from Georgetown High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. She taught all 8 grades in the one room of Elwood School located east of Georgetown. She also worked as a teachers aid for many years in the Georgetown School District. She was a devoted member of Georgetown Friends Meeting. In her spare time, Selma enjoyed fishing, baking, and painting and was an avid Illini fan and a Florida Gators fan. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. A celebration of Selmas life will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, November 9th, 2006, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. A gathering of friends and family will be from 4p-8p on Wednesday, November 8th, 2006, at the funeral home. Pastor Jerry Vincent will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Selmas name to Carle Hospice-206A W Anthony Dr-Champaign, IL 61822.
