Scott E. Barnes, 60, a.k.a Barney or Barn Dog, of Covington, passed away at 8:13pm, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Franciscan Health Hospital East, Lafayette, Indiana. He battled Leukemia in 2014 and with a positive attitude and successful bone marrow transplant in 2015 was gifted a longer life. Leukemia returned this year. Scott had put his trust in Jesus and was at peace. Scott was born on January 16, 1962, in Danville, IL, to Bobby and Carolyn {McLain} Barnes. They preceded him in death. He graduated from Covington High School in 1980 and was a lifelong Covington resident. His favorite things were his classic sunglasses and visor look, t-shirts with the sleeves cut out, St. Louis Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, Indy 500 (which he attended every year from 1964 through 2016), AJ Foyt fan (sharing the same birthday), Nascar, scratch offs, lotteries, and sport fantasy games. Scott is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Blake) Medlin; his granddaughters, Brooklyn & Madison Medlin; his sister, Kim Martin; his brother, Joe (Mitzi) Barnes; his extended family, Brad & Monica Allen, Michael, Jessica, Quinn, Holden & Asa Lewandowski, Brandon (Erica) Allen, Clay Martin, Adam & River Barnes, Logan, Mallorie, & Theo Allen, Josh & Meghan Allen, and Luke & Faith Taylor; as well as his longtime friends, Tracy Mitchell and Don Woodrow. As were his wishes, there will be no services and he will be accorded cremation rites. His arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932.
