Scott Dean Smiley, 47, of Brownsburg, Indiana, formerly of Danville, passed away at 3:42 est. Friday, November 17, 2006 at his residence. Scott was born on February 21, 1959 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Arnold D. and Freida A. (Rouse) Smiley. He married Jill A. McCarty on February 19, 1999 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by is father- Arnold Dean Smiley of Danville; one step-son- Ryan W. McCarty of Flatville, Illinois; one surrogate daughter- Kristi Strong of the State of Florida; one brother- Steven D. Smiley of Danville; one sister- Darla K. Hudson of Danville; one grandson- Keegan R. McCarty of Flatville; three nieces- Jessica M Hall, Kayla E. Hall both of Danville, and Meghan A. McCarty of Champaign; four nephews- Jason T. Hudson, Shane S. Hall both of Danville, Jacob E.S. McCarty of Chicago, and Lucas J. McCarty of Champaign; one great-niece, three great- nephews, and his girls- Callie Rose and Princess Daisy. Scott was preceded in death by his mother and his brother by choice- Randy L. Shotts. Scott attended Danville High School, and worked for many years as a mechanic. He loved to spend his time fishing and riding his Harley, and working on his 1977 El Camino. Scott loved being a grandpa and an uncle. His loving acceptance and unconditional love for all who touched his life will not be forgotten. A Celebration of the Life of Scott Dean Smiley will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Rev. Phil Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Sunset Memorial Park to go towards the purchase of Scotts marker.
