Sarah Ann Reed, 88, of Danville, Illinois passed away on October 31, 2010 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. Sarah was born February 24, 1922 in Danville, Illinois daughter of Frank and Martha Ann Bowling. She married Russell Reed on July 1, 1950 in Danville. He preceded her in February of 2001. Survivors include three children: Mary Kochvar of Danville, Leonard Davis of Danville, and Judy (Jack) Cessna of Oakwood; thirteen grandchildren: Brenda King, Robert Douglass, Wayne Douglass, Tina Jones, Valerie Finis, John Kochvar, Theresa Sollars, Prudy Beeson, Cherie McKenzie, Vickie Cooper, Lenny Davis, Donnie Davis, and Tracey Meeker. Twenty six great-grandchildren; thirty great-great grandchildren; cousin: Jim (Jackie) Gouty; special caregivers: Stephanie, Heather, and Jan; as well as a special friend Orpha Sullivan of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter and son-in-law Martha and Robert Douglass, great grandson William Cooper, son-in-law Robert Kochvar, and Daughter-in-law Carol Davis. Sarah had worked for Head Start for three years and later worked at Model Star Laundry for several years until deciding to be a stay at home mother and home maker. She enjoyed crocheting, canning, camping (especially in Arizona), and was well known for her homemade apple butter and banana nut cookies, but, above all she loved spending the holidays with her family. A Celebration of Sarahs Life will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor J.T. Riggs officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Parks Mausoleum in Danville.
