Sarah Lucinda Carpenter, 61, of Danville, passed away at 2:03pm, Monday, May 4, 2015, at Presence USMC, Danville, with family always by her side. She was born on August 10, 1953, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Dorothy {Drake} Cook. She was married to Joseph Joe' Carpenter on June 6, 1986, in Danville. He will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by: her children, Joe (Penney) Carpenter of Fairmount, Mark (Wendy) Carpenter of Danville, Corrina (Michael Moose') Hardin of Danville, Cody (Laura Trautman) Carpenter of Danville, Johnna Hochstetler of Shellburn, IN, Kristy Carpenter of Champaign, & Jamie Williams of Champaign; her 31 grandchildren; her 9 great grandchildren; her brother, George Cook of Danville; her sisters, Goldie Emery of Danville, Lisa (Arvil) Cox of Danville, & Valerie Richards of Westville; her good friend, Della Parker of Arkansas; and many nieces, nephews, & close friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brothers, David Cook & Billy Richards. Sarah worked in food prep at Ponderosa, Big Boy, & later at Provena USMC. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers. Her and her husband were silent owners and key players in starting up the Danville Chargers Organization. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Sarah's life will be held at 12:00pm, Friday, May 8, 2015, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Elder Jean Rumple officiating. Visitation will be held 10am-12pm, prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Songer Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society.
