Sarah Louise (Stumme) Zillman passed away peacefully on December 21, 2005 at the Hawthorne Inn where she had been a resident since 2002. She was born at home in Danville on September 27, 1915, the daughter of Louis and Lillian Stumme. She attended Trinity Lutheran School through the eighth grade. She attended Danville High School, where she excelled in accounting and business classes, and continued her education at the Utterback and Brown School of Business. She was employed for several years by a local savings and loan company. On February 17, 1946, she and her high school sweetheart, Herschel E. Zillman, were married, and were blessed with 48 years together. She was a lifelong faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and participated in many activities and programs over the years, including Walther League, Couples Club, PTA, and the Eunice Society. She was a lifelong member of her euchre club that has continued to meet since 1934 and was an active member of the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family. She was especially fond of cats and had feline companions since early childhood. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sarah is survived by her son Daniel (Roberta) Zillman of Marion, Iowa; son Robert (Maggy) Zillman of Danville; daughter Suzanne (Greg) Hubert of Salem, Oregon; and grandchildren Diane (Andy) Roethler of North Liberty, Iowa; Paul Zillman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Carrie Zillman of Danville; Stephen Hubert and Amy Hubert both of Salem, Oregon. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Herschel.
