Covington, Ind. - Sarah Peer, 92, a resident of The Waters of Covington and formally of Tangier, Indiana passed away at 11:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 16, 2020 at The Waters of Covington.
Sarah was born on July 10, 1928 in Newport, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Marie (Davis) Peer. At an early age she went to live with her uncle and aunt Fleet and Cecil Harrier and cousin Harold Harrier where she remained until their deaths.
Sarah is also preceded in death by her brothers James, John and Paul Peer as well as sisters Clara Sollars and Marjorie Bauer. Sarah is survived by several cousins as well as those in the Harrier family who considered her as part of their family.
Sarah was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Unit 263 and the Covered Bridge Antique Power Association. She was a 1946 Graduate of Perrysville High School. Sarah enjoyed gardening and watching wildlife with Harold on their farm in Parke County.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Vickie Taylor who provided special care to Sarah, as well as Harold, after they moved to Covington.
Graveside service and burial: Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. EDT at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana with Memorial Services by the Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary. Officiating: Ashton Stewart. Visitation with social distancing guidelines: 1 to 3 p.m. EDT Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary, 904 West Ferry Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928.
