Sara Lou Schafer, 86, of Danville, passed away at 12:37 p.m. Saturday August 12, 2006 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She was born June 26, 1920 in Danville, the daughter of John and Louise Arnold Griner. Sara married John G. Schafer on July 16, 1955 in Danville, he preceded her in 1979. Surviving; one daughter; Louise (Joe) Buck of Rossville, five grandchildren; John Jason (Jill Denewellis) Shutes, Jordan (Kayla Moore) Buck, Jason (Chris Owens) Buck, Jennifer (Jared Harris) Buck and Jamie (Rodney) Judy, five great-grandchildren; Sierra Shutes, Taylor Judy, Ryleigh Moore-Buck, Ryan Judy, Robert Joseph Denewellis-Shutes, a special friend; Teresa Kramer of Danville. She was preceded by her parents and two brothers. Sara had worked at the former Kresges store in downtown Danville for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, enjoyed cooking and sharing her food with others, she loved her dogs oogie and Hazard and her Birds. Sara leaves behind an extended family with the staff at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 16, 2006 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville. Officiating will be Father Ted Pracz. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday August 15, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center and one hour prior to the funeral at the Church on Wednesday. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. during the visitation. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
