Sanford Ray Eichhorn of Danville, passed on March 13, 2018. Born on June 28th, 1928, in Elmore Minnesota, Mr. Eichhorn was a longtime businessman in Danville founding the popular restaurant Royal Donut. Sanford graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Minnesota and married his first wife Barbara Lyons. Together they ventured to Venezuela, where Sanford worked for Phillips Petroleum for six years. Following their return to the United States, the couple started their first donut shop. The first Royal Donut shop was built on the corners of Vermilion and Fairchild streets in 1973. Following the loss of his first wife, Sanford married Marilyn Wodetzki. They were both members of St. James Methodist Church in Danville. Mr. Eichhorn is survived by his brother, Glenn Eichhorn, two children; Carol Eichhorn Hambley, and Casey Eichhorn; grandchildren Sarah, Carter, and Emma Hambley and one great granddaughter Annie. A private family service will be held in his honor at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center are in charge of arrangements.
