Danville- Sandy Kay Runyan, 65, of Danville passed away at 8:05 PM on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on November 23, 1947 in Danville to Samuel Edward and Christina Mae Smith Runyan. She is survived by her mother, Christina Mae Allen of Danville; sister, Diana (Mike) Haworth of Cayuga, IN; two brothers, Robert (Donna) Van Runyan of Brocton, IL and Sam Runyan of Danville; nieces and nephews, Troy Haworth, Shawn (Latisha) Haworth, Tina Haworth, Rebecca Runyan, Sarah Runyan, Heather Runyan, and Kimberly Runyan; great nieces and nephews, Lauren, Maylayna, Aleah, Maycie, and Brayden; two step-sisters, Nancy (Denny) Abbott and Margaret (Bruce) Munda; and step-nieces and nephews, Tyler and Haley Abbott, and Michael and Byron Munda. She was preceded in death by her father, step-father Orville Allen, and an aunt, Louise Knerr. Sandy worked in the kitchen at the Champaign County Nursing Home as a cook until her retirement. She loved to order and read books and watch television. Sandy was also a Chicago Cubs fan. A service to celebrate the life of Sandy Runyan will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, prior to the service on Friday also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
