Oakwood " Sandra Jean Young, 72, of Oakwood peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 26 at home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held at Sunsets Executive Plaza (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Home) located at 3550 N. Vermilion Street in Danville from 4-8pm, Thursday, January 28, 2010. Funeral services will be held at the Muncie Baptist Church located at 205 Main Street in Munice, IL, beginning at 2:00pm on Friday, January 29, 2010, with burial service to follow at the Oakwood Cemetery. Sandi was born on December 9, 1937. She was the daughter of Joe and Anne Tatar of Westville. She graduated from Danville High School and attended Danville Junior College. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Anne Tatar, a brother Joseph Tatar Jr. (died at birth) and a sister Kay Kazantis of California. Survivors include her husband Robert Young, of Oakwood, two children, Ron (Melanie) Young of Indianapolis and David (Connie) Young of Oakwood. Sandi had five grandchildren: Ashley and Daniel Young, Katelyn, Joshua, and Nathan Young. Sandi was a longtime member of Muncie Baptist Church. She was a very active member holding numerous positions within the church. She enjoyed quilting for family and friends and was a member of the Heart and Hands Quilt Club, Ladies of the Guild, and Land of Lincoln Quilting Association. She also enjoyed antiquing with her friends, volunteering at the Vermilion County Museum and sharing in her husbands love of aviation. She was a member and supporter of the Experimental Aircraft Association, regularly attending the annual fly-in convention with her husband and family. Sandi worked at the Vermilion County Credit Bureau, was a stay at home mom, a teachers aide at the Oakwood Grade School, and a Real Estate Broker. Sandi was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the most important thing to her next to the Lord. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Memorials may be made to the Muncie Baptist Church.
