Sandra Sue Metz

Sandra Sue Metz, 58, of Covington, IN, passed away at 10:35pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Sandra was born in Danville, IL on June 24, 1958, the daughter of Louis E. and LaWanda Buchanan. On July 15, 1998 Sandra married the love of her life, James Metz in Fort Walton Beach, FL, He survives. Also surviving are son, Nicholas (Amanda Freeman) Sumila of Covington; two daughters, Amanda (Scott) Pittman of McCordsville, IN, Jacqueline (Patrick) Wilson of Georgetown; sister, Ellen (Andrew) Hill; nine grandchildren, Isabella Pittman, Bianca Pittman, Jacob Pittman, Maezie Pittman, Jackson Wilson, Emersyn Wilson, Avery Sumila, Brant Freeman, Madison Pence; nephew, Adam (Mellissa) Haun; niece, Kelly (Ron) Barnett; four great nieces, Elizabeth Haun, Bethany Haun, Ayda Haun and Kylie Haun Slowik. Sandra is preceded in death by her father, brother, Mark Buchanan and sister, Helen Lorraine Buchanan. Sandra spent 39 years working at Quaker Oats. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling with her husband, their mothers, and families to Florida, Maine, Yellowstone, Canada and many other states. Sandra also enjoyed visiting their friends in Louisiana and throughout the south. Family meant everything to Sandra and she loved her grandchildren very much. She loved spending time with friends. She will be deeply missed by everyone she came into contact with. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Reverend James Blue. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3pm to 7pm on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations to be made to the Cancer Society of America.
