Sandra "Sandy" Sue Escamilla, 68, of Tilton, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Sandra was born on August 11th, 1943, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Bob and Herma (Brown) Paris. Sandy married Gary Morris of Danville and later on in life married Gilberto Escamilla. She is survived by three children- Renee' Morris (Rikk Michael) Smith of Oakwood, Michelle (Morris) Ollis of Westville and Travis (Melissa) Escamilla of Danville; son-in-law- Monty Ollis of Westville; grandchildren- Shannon Dodson of Georgetown, Jarrod (Jodi Shaw) Dodson of Westville, Jacob Ollis of Westville, Emily (Josh Parson) Dodson of Westville, Jeremiah Smith of Oakwood, Jordan Smith of Oakwood, Sophia Escamilla of Danville and was looking forward to another grandson on the way; great-grandchildren- Anthony Dodson, Isabella Dodson, Bentley Parson and was expecting another great-grandson, Carson in April; brother- Jim Paris of Bismarck; sister-in-law- Dorothy Paris; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings- Earlyne Ritter, Edward Paris and Robert Paris, niece- Tonya Paris, nephew- Dennis Ritter and sister-in-law- Sue Paris. Sandy attended school at Lincoln Elementary School and Danville High School. During her life she was employed at Zayer for many years. Later in life she served the veterans of our country by working with patients at the Veterans Administration Hospital. She retired from the VA after 28 years of service. In her retirement Sandy was dedicated to working with women survivors of abuse. She spent a short time working at the homeless women's shelter at the YWCA. She loved helping others. The most important part of Sandy's life was her children and her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Whenever Sandy could, she wanted to spend time with her family. They were the best part of her day. She made sure that they knew how much she loved them. Her other hobbies included collecting dolls and taking care of animals. If someone was unable to care for a pet, she was the first to say she would take the pet in. When she was younger she loved to go to dance school. A Celebration of Sandy's life will be held on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 at the Danville United Church of Christ at the corner of Main and Buchanan Street in Danville. A gathering of friends and family will be from 3:00-4:00 p.m. with the Memorial Service starting at 4:00 p.m. Please bring to the service with you memories to share. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the ASPCA. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
