Sandra Sue Divan, 74, of Danville, formerly of Covington, passed away on September 16, 2014 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on January 9, 1940 in Danville, IL, the daughter of James Ira and Frances May (Sparrow) Lawhorn. She married Norman Divan in 1969 in Newtown, IL, he preceded her in death in 1999. Sandra will be deeply missed by one son, Robert J. Pollock Jr. of Danville, one daughter, Teresa Pollock of Danville, one brother, Jerry (Sandy) Lawhorn of Danville, two sisters, Sharon Gillis of Georgetown, Arlene (Larry) Bennett of Kentland, IN, grandchildren, Jeremy Pollock, Michael Fauver, Matt Lawhorn and Brandon Lawhorn great grandchildren, Caleb Pollock, Logan Fauver and Jaxon Pollock, one nephew that she raised as her own, James Lawhorn Jr., several nieces and nephews and companion Al Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Connie Whited and brother, James Lawhorn. Sandra worked at GE in Danville for 14 years before moving to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois for 15 years until retirement in 1998. She loved volunteering her time out at the VA in Danville. Sandra was a headstart teacher and a foster parent for many children over the years and loved traveling, going on cruises, spending time with her grandkids and especially her dog “Desire”. A celebration of Sandras life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM EST at Sunsets Covington Chapel, Covington, IN, with Pastor Dennis Divan officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM EST at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, IN. Memorials can be made in Sandras name to the National Kidney Foundation.
