Sandra K. Erp

Sandra K. Erp, 77, formerly of Westville, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family in Peoria, IL. She was born on December 31, 1938 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Pauline (Grider) Stephenson. She married Kenneth G. Erp on April 28, 1961. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1996. She is survived by: two daughters, Tamara Kay (Patrick) Miller of Raleigh, NC, and Stephani Erp (Keith McElyea) of Peoria, IL; six grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, and Kennedi Miller. Jarod, Alec and Brayden McElyea; her brother, Gerald (Norma) Stephenson; her sister, Helen (Harold) Haworth; and a very special friend, Janet Payne. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and three siblings, Betty, Bill and Norman. Sandy taught beauty school at The House of James in Danville for many years and owned her own shop. She later worked at United Samaritans Medical Center for 20 years in the Human Resource Department as Assistant Director. She also worked for Samaritan Health Partners as director to the physicians. After her retirement she spent her time between her daughters' homes in North Carolina and Illinois Sandy was a woman of great class and beauty. She touched the lives of everyone she met and was an inspiration to them all. She was a very creative person who excelled in oil painting. But her greatest love in life was her grandchildren and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Penguin Project, 306 W. Morningside Dr. Peoria, IL 61614. This is a very wonderful organization that gives children with special needs/disabilities the opportunity to participate in the performing arts. Donations may be made in the name of her grandson, Brayden McElyea, who is a participant. A celebration of Sandra's life will be held at 12:00pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, IL, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held 10am to 12pm on Tuesday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Westville.
