Sandra Sue Drysdale

Sandra Sue Drysdale, 87, of Rantoul passed away peacefully on Friday (April 11, 2025) after a short stay at Country Health Care & Rehab, Gifford. She was born on Dec. 26, 1937, in Paxton, a daughter of Roy Jackson and Dora (Parker) Drysdale. Sue never married and had no children, but she surrounded herself with beloved friends throughout her life. She graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1955. She earned her associate degree from the Julia K. Burnham School of Nursing in 1958. She was assistant head nurse and head nurse at Burnham City Hospital from 1958-1960. She then became an office nurse from 1960-1971. In 1971, Sue became a veterinary research specialist at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign doing epidemiology on Salmonella infections in Diagnostic and Research Virology, retiring on Dec. 13, 1999. She was a lifelong member of the Rantoul United Methodist Church. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with her friends. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul. The Rev. Kevin Little will officiate.
