Samuel "Sammy" S. Pearman

Newport, Ind. - Samuel "Sammy" S. Pearman, 59, of Newport, passed away at 8:20 p.m. EST Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Clinton Gardens in Clinton, Indiana.

He was born May 11, 1958 in Clinton, Indiana the son of the late Samuel O. and Marybelle (Ory) Pearman.

Sammy married Betsy L. McMillan on April 5, 2006 in Newport, Indiana. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Hall of Terre Haute, Indiana; two step daughters, Kayla Gersch of Peotone, Illinois and Taylor Shoemaker of Terre Haute, Indiana; one stepson, Jaycee Shoemaker of Rosedale, Indiana; three grandchildren and one step grandson; two sisters, Joyce Delph of Clinton, Indiana and Della (Jack) Rainey of Newport, Indiana; one brother, Marion (Debbie) Pearman of Newport, Indiana; two sister-in-laws, Judy (Mil) Blacketer of Montezuma, Indiana and Mary Gilbert of Rockville, Indiana; two brother-in-laws, Jim McMillan of Anderson, Indiana and Howie (Bridget) McMillan of Rockville, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Amy Pearman, and one sister.

Sammy had been employed since 1976 at Duke Energy in Cayuga as a janitor. He was a 1976 graduate of North Vermillion High School and a member of the Newport S.A.L. Post #184. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, going to the river, riding in his golf cart, and many college and pro sports.

Visitation only: 4 to 7 p.m. EST Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana. Inurnment of cremains and a private family service will take place at a later date at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana.
