Samuel S. Sheppard

Covington, Ind. -- Samuel S. Sheppard, 62, formerly of Covington and a resident of the Regency Place of Lafayette in Lafayette, Indiana for the past year, passed away at 7:45 p.m. EDT Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Regency Place of Lafayette. Sam was born June 1, 1946 in Danville, Illinois the son of the late Ray Elmer and Maxine M. Otterman Sheppard. He married Jeanne M. Coon on June 2, 1979 in Yeddo, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2004. Survivors include his special friends: Michael(Sherry)Phelps of Otterbein, Indiana; Dale(Nadine)Phelps and Cliff Clawson of Covington, Indiana. Sam worked as a farm hand south of Covington, Indiana. He was a 1964 graduate of Covington High School. Sam enjoyed singing, playing his guitar and fishing. There will be no services. Cremation is scheduled. Burial of cremains to be held at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana.
