Samuel Freed

Newport, Ind. - Samuel Freed, 77, of Newport, passed away at 1:18 p.m. EDT Monday, March 19, 2018 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born August 15, 1940 in Eugene, Indiana the son of the late George W. and Luella J. (Cox) Freed.

Sam married Mary Jane Williams on December 19, 1959 in Newport, Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2006.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Sue (Mark Wilson) Freed of Newport, Indiana; one son, Dennis Wayne (Lori) Freed of Clinton, Indiana; two granddaughters, Katelyn and Madison Freed; special friend, Renata Williams of Perrysville, Indiana, and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffrey Joe Freed; infant sister Alice, and six siblings.

Sam worked at the Tilton, Illinois foundry for General Motors retiring in 1992. He attended Christian Union Church north of Perrysville, Indiana. Sam attended Cayuga High School. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, camping, and his Gazebo. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
