Cayuga, Ind. -- Samuel "Sam" B. King, 76, of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away at 3:35 p.m. EDT Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana. He was born March 11, 1931 in Cayuga, Indiana, the son of the late Wallace A. and Madeline E. Shelato King. He married Jane Warnick on February 16, 1952 in Cayuga, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include: two grandsons, Matthew Ray King and Lucas Scott King; daughter in law, Connie King and one sister, Millie Warnick all of Cayuga, Indiana; sister in law, Connie Warnick of rural Kingman, Indiana (Silver Island Community); several nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by two sons, Rick E. King (November 25, 1971) and Tim R. King (May 7, 2006). Sam was a self employed brick layer for 48 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Marines. He was a 1949 graduate of Cayuga High School. He attended the Eugene United Methodist Church in Eugene, Indiana. Sam joined the brick layers union in Champaign, Illinois in 1948 and was currently a non-active member. He enjoyed watching his grandsons compete for North Vermillion High School in football and wrestling. Sam also enjoyed mushrooming, fishing and raising flowers. Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Silver Island Cemetery in rural Kingman, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Monday, October 8, 2007 at the funeral home.
