Samuel R. Jumps, 84, of Bismarck passed away on August 13, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Danville, IL He was born on August 24, 1931 in Danville, IL, the son of Mark and Josephine Jumps. He married Patricia Rose on June 7, 1952 in Danville. Sam will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years, Patricia; daughter, Melody Riggs; son, Mark Jumps; sister, Evelyn Devore; grandchildren, Michelle (Ben) Walden, Becky Riggs, Patty (Brandon) Kastl and great-grandson, Andrew Riley Walden. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Alva Devore and son-in-law, Les Riggs. Sam proudly served our County in the US Navy. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel and Fountain Lodge Number 60. He enjoyed gardening and collecting antique bottles. He retired from TeePak and Lauhoff Grain, where he was a boiler operator. He spent his retirement years fishing Kentucky Lake, and more than anything he loved spending time with his family. The Jumps family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and Dr. Elliott at the VA Palliative Care Center in Danville, IL. Memorials can be made to Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel. A celebration of Sam's life will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL with Pastor Doug McCord officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016, 4-7 PM in Danville. Masonic rites will follow visitation. He will be laid to rest at Walnut Corner Cemetery.
