Dana, Ind. - Sam Hawn, 66, of Dana, passed away at 8:36 a.m. EDT Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana.

He was born January 19, 1953 in Danville, Illinois the son of the late Jessie M. and Mary Jane (Haworth) Hawn.

He married Cindy McCoy on November 7, 2005 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. She survives.

Other survivors include his children: Julie (James) Geralds of Crawfordsville, Indiana; Clint (Jessica) Hawn of Warsaw, Indiana and Sammi (Bob) Watson of Hillsdale, Indiana; two stepsons: Brandon Thomann of Hillsdale, Indiana and Dustin Dailey of Dana, Indiana; seven grandchildren; three sisters: Jackie (Larry) Moore and Donna Laws, both of Cayuga, Indiana and Mary Jo (Billy) Martin of Covington, Indiana; one brother: Bill (Kim Bratton) Hawn of Eugene, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.

Sam was preceded in death by his two granddaughters: Aren and Danyel Cheesman; grandson: Duane Watson; nephew: Charles Jackson and brother: Dick Craft.

Sam retired from General Motors in 2000. In 2002 he opened Sam's Pub. Sam was a member of the Newport Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed raising cattle and mowing hay. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral service: Noon EDT Thursday, June 20, 2019 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Keith McIntyre; Burial: Whitlock Cemetery in rural Vermilion County, Illinois; Visitation: 10 a.m. EDT Thursday, June 20, 2019 until time of services at the funeral home.
