Sally Sumila, 90, of Danville went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2007 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Home in Chrisman. Sally was born December 23, 1916 near LErable, IL., and was the daughter of Ed and Mary Lagesse Noel. She married Floyd (Johnny Boy) Sumila on September 30, 1939. He preceded her on June 23, 2002. Survivors include three sons, Edward (Christine), Gary, and John (Tina), three grandchildren: Nicholas (Mandy), Bryan (Amy), and Traci. Two great grandchildren: Adam & Addison. She was preceded by her parents, grandson Eric, seven brothers and seven sisters. Sally came to Danville in 1930 to work as a maid, worked at Steel Grip for 15 years, Florsheim Shoe Factory for 2 years, and retired from Holy Family School Cafeteria after 15 years, but, continued to volunteer her time at the school & church until 2001. She enjoyed collecting salt & pepper shakers, crocheting, baking, and she loved to dance the Polka. Sallys greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Celebration of Sallys Life and Catholic Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Ted Pracz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL. She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Memorial contributions can be made in her behalf to Holy Family School and/or church where she had been a parishioner for over 50 years.
