Sally K Cox

Sally K. (Doan) Cox, 71, of Danville passed away unexpectedly at Hawthorne Inn Rehab Center on Tuesday August 9, 2016. Sally was born the daughter of H.W. "Bud" and Margaret (Alkire) Doan on July 2, 1945 in Danville. Sally married Sam Cox on May 21, 1994. He survives. Also surviving Sally is her step son Monte (Gina) Cox, a step granddaughter Jenny Cox. Also surviving are 4 brothers and 3 sisters: Jack Doan of Danville, Tom (Mickey) Doan of Wheaton, IL, Mary Sadler of Winter Springs, FL, Dan (Debbie) Doan of Mt. Dora, FL, Pat (Becky) Doan of Danville, IL, Jean (Steve) Wheeler of Danville, IL, and Julie (Dave) Allison of Danville, IL. She also had numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was loved by all of them. She also leaves behind her dog, Snoopy, whom she loved dearly. Sally was preceded in death by her parents and previous husband Charlie Chesnut. Sally graduated from Schlarman High School in 1963. She retired from Danville Metal Stamping. Prior to that she worked at Old Towne Video. Before that she worked at Lakeview Hospital snack bar where she made the best milk shakes ever! Sally was a warm, caring, sweet person who brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. She was a huge Elvis Presley, Trace Adkins, and Neal McCoy fan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 am on Friday August 12, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Burial will be at the Danville National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 11, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
