Oakwood - Sally Sue Ellis nee Downing, 78, passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on January 15, 2015 at 2:37 p.m. in her home. Sally was born March 6, 1936 in Danville, the daughter of Clarence Harley and Helen Josephine Downing nee Shumaker. Sally married Richard “Dick” McCord on December 19, 1954, he survives. On March 27, 1986 she was united in marriage to Thomas W. Ellis until his passing on August 31, 2007. Sally will be sadly missed by her daughters Kellie (Jack) Clifton of West Dundee, Cindy (Ken) McCord of Tilton, and her son Terry (Pattie) McCord of Bismarck; her grandchildren Mendy (Chad) Beasely, Sheri (Jeremy) Wiegand, Andrew (Kelli) Wiegand, Tiffany Rouse, Curtis (Tia) Rouse, Ryan McCord, Megan McCord, Lynsey McCord, and Emiley McCord; her great-grandchildren Lexi, Logan, Madeline, Samantha, Alyssa, Jaelyn, Mahaylia, Mason, Gabrielle, Ashton, Hunter, Allyn, Shayne, and Zay; special cousins Carl and Margaret Allison, Tommy and Sue Acree, special friends Danny and Sue Owens; her faithful puppy Missy; and her extended family from the Vermilion Fishing Club which she and Tom were members of for 25 years. Sally is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom Ellis, infant daughter Debra Ann McCord, many aunts and uncles and her special Aunt Mildred Clem. Sally was a Danville High School graduate in 1954. She was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church. She was employed by Dr. Hetherington for 27 years and Dr. Tazudeen for 13 years. Sally enjoyed camping, fishing, puzzles, reading, knitting and spending time with her family. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Sheryl Sullivan, Dr. Labayog and his staff, and an extra special thank you to Carol, Crystal, and Hanna at Harbor Light Hospice. A celebration of Sallys life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday January 19, 2015 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 11 am to 2 pm also on Monday. Pastor Karen Jersild will officiate.
