Sally A. Merritt, 77, of Oakwood passed away on May 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 27, 1940 in Hoopeston, IL. She married Thomas Merritt and he preceded her in death in 2003. Sally worked at JC Penney's in catalog for many years. She loved to crochet, knit, make crafts and cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved her grandchildren. Sally was a very happy person and would always lend a hand to anyone in need. She was an avid reader and attended Muncie Baptist Church. Sally will be deeply missed by her children; Tim (Diane) Merritt of Indianapolis, Scott (Dixie) Merritt of Arizona and Teresa (Ed Bryleski) Merritt of Tilton, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Lucas, husband, Thomas and one brother, Jack Lucas. A celebration of Sally's life will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM prior to the service. Burial will be held at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston at a later date. Memorials can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
