Ryan W. Mock, 49, of Dana passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2024. The beloved son, brother, father, uncle and friend, was born on February 26, 1975 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Geri (Lewis) and Ronald “Joe” Mock. He graduated from North Vermillion High School in 1993 and continued his education at USI in Evansville.
Ryan worked at International Paper and held different positions throughout his 18-year career with them. Ryan found joy in the great outdoors- whether he was fishing, camping, or kayaking. He had a remarkable ability to connect with nature and enjoyed sharing these experiences with his friends and family.
He always looked forward to the annual family vacations to Destin, Florida where he was the “all-time-late-night ghost crab hunter” on the beach with his daughter, nephews and niece. Ryan loved to travel and explore new places whenever the opportunity arose.
Ryan was truly one-of-a-kind with a gift for remembering faces and people- even from years ago! He had an innate ability to connect with those around him, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. He had a personal relationship with God, and though he will be dearly missed here on Earth, he is now peacefully reunited with his Lord and loved ones.
He is survived by his daughter, Addison; his mother Geri Mock; and his sisters Leslie (Greg) Goode and Erin (Shane) Johnson. He also leaves behind his nephews Jackson Goode and Garrett (Kelsey) & Callan Johnson; his niece Cambry Johnson; several cousins; and close friends that were like family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Mock, and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A visitation will be held for Ryan on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 10 am – 1 pm EST at Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow the visitation that afternoon at 1 pm, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests donations be made, in his honor, to the Newport American Legion Post 184. Online condolences and fond memories can be shared with his family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
