Ruth W. 'Winnie' Stark

Ruth W. "Winnie" Stark Ruth W. Stark, 98, of Danville, formerly of Georgetown, passed away at 11:58 AM on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Ruth was born on June 9, 1913 in Batestown, IL the daughter of Nasby and Laura (Osborn) Hume. She married Harmon L. Stark on June 9, 1934 in Effingham, IL. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1995. She is survived by one son- Michael A. Stark of Danville, one daughter- Karen (John) Clingan of Danville, one sister- Eva Verhoeven of Danville, one brother- Tom (Loretta) Hume of Longmont, CO, one granddaughter- Valerie (Kevin) Moore of Clarkston, MI, three grandsons- James (Susan) Mikel of Terre Haute, IN, David (Laura) Stark of Phoenix, AZ, Gordon (Dinah) Clingan of Fithian, IL, five great-granddaughters- Taryn Mikel, Michaela Moore, Tawni Stark, Talia Stark, and Toni Stark, five great-grandsons- Zech Moore, Sam Moore, Tanner Mikel, Logan (Karissa) Pyle and Kyle Clingan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, two brothers, one granddaughter- Desiree Stark and one son-in-law- Joseph Mikel. Ruth graduated from Oakwood High School and attended Lake View School of Nursing. She had worked as a nurse, later retiring from Danville Sporstswear. She was a member of the Georgetown Church of Christ. When she was a child she was baptized in the river while attending Batestown Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, crafts, traveling and most of all being with her family. Private family services will be held at Stearns Cemetery.
