Ruth "Nikki" Moody

Newport, Ind. - Ruth Mae "Nikki" Moody, 69, of Newport, passed away at 7:35 a.m. EDT Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her residence. She was born March 6, 1947 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of William H. and Bonnie Jean (Jones) Miller, Sr. Nikki married Donald E. Moody, Jr. on July 3, 1966 in Newport, Indiana. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Scott (Ruth) Moody of Newport, Indiana and Sheri Byrnes of Paducah, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Scott Moody, Jr.; Melissa Moody and Harrison Byrnes; her mother, Bonnie Jean Miller of Newport, Indiana; three sisters, Jeanne Collins of Newport, Indiana; Phyllis (Mark) Booe of LeHigh, Florida and Joy Miller of Kansas City, Missouri; four brothers, William H. "Bill" (Magie) Miller; LeRoy Miller and Art (BJ) Miller, all of Danville, Illinois and Tom (Gail) Miller of Dana, Indiana. Nikki was preceded in death by her father, William H. Miller, Sr. Nikki retired in 2007 as a bookkeeper with First Financial Bank in Newport, Indiana. She was a member of the Newport United Methodist Church and was currently serving as their treasurer and the Perrysville Chapter #302 O.E.S. Nikki was a 1965 graduate of Westville High School. She enjoyed bowling, roller skating baking and watching the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and the St. Louis Cardinals. She especially enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Melissa play softball. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Newport United Methodist Church; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EDT Friday, April 29, 2016 until time of services at the church.
