Covington, IN- Ruth N. Shideler, 101, of Covington passed away at 1:03 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at The Waters of Covington. She was born on January 9, 1913 in Marshall Co., Indiana, the daughter of Jacob and Belle Sutton Hushaw. She married Wayne Shideler on August 26, 1932 in Veedersburg. He preceded her in death in May of 1966. She is survived by a son, Robert W. (Barbara) Shideler of Danville, IL; a daughter, Susan K. (Larry) Adams of Veedersburg; six grandchildren, Dr. R. Mark (Rhonda) Shideler, Dr. David W. (Tina) Shideler, Neal Duncan, Jason Duncan, Derek (Tracy) Adams, and Dr. Laryn Adams; and four great-grandchildren, Samuel Shideler, Caedmon Shideler, Sarah Jane Shideler, and Logan Duncan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Harry, and Donald Hushaw, and an infant daughter, Donna Sue Shideler. Ruth was a graduate of Attica High School and worked as a clerk in the farm subsidies division of the US Department of Agriculture until her retirement in 1975. Ruth was also a long time member of Sterling Christian Church, the Covington Book Lovers Club, and was a past member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play cards, especially euchre, but also enjoyed needlepoint and knitting. A visitation for Ruth N. Shideler will be held from 1:30 - 2:30 EDT on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Sunsets Covington Chapel, A Life Celebration Home in Covington, IN. Burial will take place at Rockfield Cemetery in Veedersburg. Private services will be held with the family. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
