Ruth Matilda Jones

Ruth Matilda Jones, 99, of Danville, IL went home to be with Jesus on May 24, 2024. She passed away at 6:45 a.m.

Ruth was born on December 4, 1924 the daughter of Cord and Fern (Craigmyle) Dolbee in Newtown, IL. She married Johnny Rossnett on October 3, 1942 and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1960. She later married Max Jones on September 5, 1964 and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2007.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Floyd) Meeker of Danville, IL and Terry (Pam) Jones of Danville, IL, grandchildren, Robbie (Kelly) Meeker of Brookston, IN, Tammy (David) Harper of Danville, IL, Brent (Pamela) Jones of St. Louis, MO, Traci (Brian) Baker of Riverton, IL, great grandchildren, Ashley (Luke) Horton. Mitchell (Josie) Harper, Mikayla Harper, Rhett Harper, Maxwell Jones, Christopher Jones, Zoey Baker, Layla Baker, and Bryce Baker, as well as her great great-grandchildren, Leelan Harper and Koe Harper along with several special nephews and nieces.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Johnny Rossnett and Max Jones as well as five brothers, Harold (Alice), Cleo (Ruth), Raymond (Violet), Lester (Beverly), and Melvin Dolbee as well as four sisters, Goldie (Jack)Musson, Beulah (Clifford) Lamb, Esther (Bob) Larson, and Reva Mae Dolbee.

Ruth was a devoted member of the First Church of Christ where she was active in the church serving in a variety of leadership roles. She worked for Sugar Creek Creamery and later owned and operated her own housekeeping business. Ruth read her Bible daily, loved to bake, especially pies, and would take popcorn and snacks to those she knew who were in nursing homes. She loved her family and was always there to help whenever she was needed, especially in prayer. She made every Christmas Eve extra special with her traditions. She would spend hours playing games with her loved ones of which "Murder" was her favorite. Ruth was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 3, 2024 at Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL 3350 East Voorhees Street Danville, Illinois 61832. Kiley Garrison will officiate. Burial will be in Mt Vernon Cemetery in Catlin, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM Monday, June 3, 2024 at the church.
