Ruth Louise Umphenour

Danville - Ruth Louise Umphenour, 96, passed away on October 30, 2015 at Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman, IL. She was born the daughter of William and Louise (Holtz) Becker on February 15, 1919 in Danville, IL. Ruth married Everett A. Umphenour on September 10, 1938 in Angola, IN. Ruth is survived by her sons Thomas (Donna) Umphenour, Gerry (Karen) Umphenour, and William (Jeanne) Umphenour; foster daughter Shirley Johnson; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, foster daughters Betty Tables & Dorothy Harp, brother Roy Becker, and sister Norma Webb. Ruth attended Trinity Lutheran School and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She was a member of Eunice society, Homemakers Silver Union Unit, In Reach Out Reach, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, served as Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, and operated a home daycare center. Ruth enjoyed sewing, knitting, and cooking. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Thursday November 5, 2015 from 3-6pm. Funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday November 6 at 10am followed by burial at Lutheran Cemetery.
