Ruth M. Lewallen, 82 of Danville, passed away at 7:15am on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the North Logan Health Care Center, in Danville. She was born on February 11, 1929, in Republic, Michigan, the daughter of Andrew and Ina (Wourinen) Holappa. Both are deceased. She was a graduate from Republic High School, and later married Bernard E. Lewallen on May 5, 1951, in Chicago, IL. He survives along with their three children; Steve Lewallen of Neenah, Wisc; Craig Lewallen of Danville, and Carole (Harry) Mullins of Foristell, MO. Her 6 grandchildren; Hannah, Benjamin, Tricia, Andrea, Staci, Lindsey, and nine great-grandchildren; Breighton, Blake, Carle, Cayden, Callie, Kyle, Jacob, Lucas, and Lucy, also survive her, as well as her two sisters; Norma Manning, and Fannie Ithal. In addition to her parents, her two sisters; Sylvia, and Helen, and three brothers; Oliver, Norman, and Herbert preceded Ruth in death. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed fishing, cooking, dancing, gardening, watching auto racing, playing the piano, and being with her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Danville American Legion Post #210 Auxiliary. She spent many years volunteering at the Provena USMC gift shop. Ruth will be missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of the Life of Ruth Lewallen has been scheduled for 10:00am on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with burial to follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Ruth's name to the Danville American Legion Post #210 Funeral Detail and/or Trinity Lutheran Church.
