Ruth M (Miner) Kidd

Ruth M. Kidd, of Rantoul passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at the FairHaven Retirement Community, Whitewater, Wis. She was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Champaign County, a daughter of Arthur and Opal Miner. She married Robert G. Kidd on Nov. 23, 1949, in Champaign. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Dodds-Kidd of St. Joseph; a son, Kenneth (Susan) Kidd of LaValle, Wis.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Eva, and a son-in-law, James. Ruth loved her family and community, always welcoming with a smile friends, her children’s friends, and all visitors to their home and to the community. A wonderful grandmother, she always enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and having them visit. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove, Rantoul. The Rev. Kenneth Chumbley will officiate. She will be buried beside her husband in Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Kids Foundation of Rantoul.
