Ruth I. Shelato

Danville, Ill. -- Ruth I. Shelato,84 of Danville, Illinois and formerly of Perrysville, Indiana, passed away at 7:30 a.m. CDT Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana, Illinois. She was born June 30, 1924 in Rankin, Illinois, the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Coleman Anderson. She married William Shelato on August 10, 1943 in Arizona. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1979. She is survived by two daughters; Jackie Kay(David)Polge of Walton, New York and Bobbie Ann(Scott)Witsman of St. Ignace, Michigan six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Anderson of Tilton, Illinois and Frank(Mary)Anderson of Georgetown, Illinois; two sisters, Helen(Keith)Hollingsworth of Hillsdale, Indiana and Linda(David)Bodine of Rossville, Indiana.She was preceded in death by a daughter Billie Sue(Farrell)Shelato, May 1998. Ruth was a 1942 graduate of Perrysville High School and a 1945 graduate of the Lakeview School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in the hospitals in Danville area for 45 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Andy Spencer; Burial: Hicks Cemetery, Perrysville, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EDT Tuesday, September 9, 2008 until time of services at the funeral home.
