Ruth D. Hodshire, 91, of Danville, passed away at Hawthorne Inn on April 14, 2026.
She has gone to be with her Lord and her husband, Robert, who went to be with the Lord, October 22, 2006.
Ruth was born in Cass Lake, MN, February 5, 1935 to Albert and Irene (Anderson) Mullen.
Ruth accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 16. She was immersed that very day, August 5, 1951 and became a Christian. The invitation hymn was “What a Friend We Have In Jesus”. She was a graduate of Thorntown, IN High School and attended Minnesota Bible College.
Ruth married Robert Hodshire, June 14, 1953 at the North Christian Church in Advance, IN and they were married for 53 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Ruth loved the Lord and always tried to have a Thank You. She was a preacher’s wife for over 50 years and enjoyed going to church and learning more about the Bible. Ruth also enjoyed reading, sewing and going to yard sales and also praised her Lord by playing the piano at church on Sunday nights.
Survivors include her daughter, Carole Jean (Charles) Mitchell of Plainfield, IN; son, Philip (Rhonda) Hodshire of Danville, IL; four grandchildren; Ernest Mitchell, Amanda Huls, Tyler Hodshire, and Caleb Hodshire; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Dylan and Madison Huls.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter; Jeanette; one sister, Bernice and one brother, Ray.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM (Central Standard Time) on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Southside Church of Christ Danville, Illinois 611 Forrest Street, Danville, Illinois 61832. Evangelist David Martin will officiate. Graveside Committal Rites will be held at 3:30 PM (Eastern Standard Time) at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jamestown, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 PM (Central Standard Time) Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the church in Danville, IL.
Memorials may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Southside Church of Christ or a charity of the donor’s choice.
