Ruth Elinor Hollingsworth

Newport, Ind. -- Ruth Elinor Hollingsworth, 80, of Newport, Indiana, passed away at 10:19 a.m. EST Wednesday (March 7, 2007) at her residence in Newport, Indiana. She was born May 14, 1926, in Vermillion County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Theodore and Thelma Watson Burge. She married Donald E. Hollingsworth on January 17, 1947 in Newport, Indiana. He survives. Other survivors include: two daughters, Rosalee Hollingsworth of Rosedale, Indiana and Diann Hollingsworth Whitehurst of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ruth retired as a bookkeeper after 40 years from Citizens Bank in Newport, Indiana. She was a member of the Newport United Methodist Church and a 1944 graduate of Newport High School. Ruth enjoyed dancing and keeping her home nice. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EST Saturday, March 10, 2007 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Wendell Adams; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Friday, March 9, 2007 at the funeral home.
