Cayuga, Ind. -- Ruth E. (Crowder) Laycock, 84, of Cayuga, passed away at 9:37 p.m. CST Wednesday (November 29, 2006) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. She was born September 22, 1922, in Cayuga, Indiana, the daughter of the late William and Helen Marie Swaim Ottinger. She first married James R. Crowder who preceded her in death in 1977. Survivors include: two sons, Pat(Diana)Crowder of Covington, Indiana and Mike(Nancy)Crowder of Cayuga, Indiana; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one sister, Minnie(Frank)Switzer of Eugene, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kirk Gentrup; two brothers, Archie and Warren Ottinger and one sister, Edith Sullivan. Ruth retired from General Electric in Danville, Illinois in 1982. She was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church since 1958. Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Cayuga High School. She enjoyed quilting and being with her grandchildren. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Sunday, December 3, 2006 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Andy Spencer and Rev. Steve Vitaniemi; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EST till time of services Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the funeral home.
