Ruth Elizabeth Black, 83, of Danville, died at 2:30 am on Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Vermillion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born May 21, 1922 in Rockville Center Long Island, New York the daughter of William P. and Eva Louise (Shafer) Seymour. She married Earl W. Black on December 14, 1941 in St. Louis, MO. He survives. Other survivors include two sons: Lawrence Larry (Bev) Black of Swansea, IL, William E. Bill (Kathie Fries) Black of Benton, KY., two daughters: Linda L. (Tom) Shumaker of Danville and Susan E. (Mike) LaTourelle of Riverton, IL; three grandchildren: Michael L. (Tammie) Black of Nuevo, CA., Robert T. Shumaker of Lincoln, IL., Barbara Ann (Brad) Moews of Danville, IL, one step granddaughter: Susan Gombosch of Danville; four great grandchildren: Megan Grace and Morgan M.C. Black of Nuevo, CA., Tyler Alan and Kaitlyn Nichole Moews of Danville, IL., and three step grandchildren: Kathryn, Kimberly, and Kristin Tuggle of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Charles, William and Robert Seymour. Ruth graduated from Danville High School and attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL. and Danville Junior College. She worked in the purchasing department at the St. Elizabeth Hospital till her retirement in 1987. Ruth was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Danville and the Home Makers Extensions. She loved to travel seeing 49 out of the 50 states. Ruth also traveled through Canada and Mexico and made two trips to Europe.
