Ruth Ann Morrissey

Ruth Ann Morrissey, age 83 of Danville, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at 9:15 PM at Hawthorne Inn Nursing Home in Danville. She is survived by her sisters, Agnes (the late Joe) Leemon of Danville and Mary Ellen (the late Bill) Harmon of Danville, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by sister, Margaret Aston, brother, John E. Morrissey, nephews, Jack Harmon and Rick Aston, niece, Anne Harmon and great-nephew, John David Harmon. The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at Hawthorne Inn Alzheimer's Unit and also nieces Molly, Nancy, and Amie, as well as many other caring friends and relatives who have helped Ruth throughout her years. Ruth was born December 11, 1931 in Penfield, IL to the late John J. and Margaret A. (Gordon) Morrissey. She graduated Schlarman High School in 1949 and went on to get her Bachelors of Education at St. Mary's College in South Bend, IN. Ruth spent 20 years with the Sisters of the Holy Cross Notre Dame, IN and worked as a teacher in the Notre Dame, IN area. She then worked in administration at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville for 25 years. Ruth was also an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main Street, Danville. Father Ted Pracz will officiate. Ruth will be laid to rest in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Penfield, IL. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
