Ruth A. Snook, 80, of Sidell, passed away at 1:41 PM on Saturday December 3, 2011 at Proven United Samaritans Hospital in Danville. Ruth was born on March 17, 1931 to Albert C. and Reba (Bettice) Rogers in Lafayette, Indiana. She married Earl B. Snook on June 18, 1962 in Urbana. He preceded her in death in December of 2001. She is survived by one son-Charlie (Susie) Koss of Sidell and four daughters- Treva (Jim) Simmons of Sidell, Reba (Don) Haun of Westville, Ruthie Koss of Westville and Connie Weidenburner of Ridgefarm, fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was known to many as mom or grandma. She leaves behind two very special friends Joyce Rogers and Rowena Rogers and two friends that were like sons, George Rogers and Tim Atkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons; Jimmy, Frank and Ricky Koss, six brothers, and one sister. Ruth got her GED in 1981 and spent two years at Danville Area Community College. She was a member of St. Isaac's in Georgetown. Ruth enjoyed spending time with family and friends. When at home she enjoyed watching the western channel with her son-in-law Slim. She has a very special great granddaughter, Audrey, that she has taken up painting and coloring with and watching Walt-Disney movies. A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held on Wednesday December 7, 2011 at 2PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastors Kevin Cox and Randy Taylor officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
