Russell C. White, age 79, of Tilton, Illinois went home to be with the Lord, Friday, September 14, 2007 at Provena United Samaritan Medical Center, Danville, Il. Russell was born July 30, 1928 to James and Harriett White in Indianola, IL. He married Mallie M. Ewell, June 11, 1947 in Danville. Russell was the youngest of six children and was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvie, Clarence (Speed) and Bill, and sisters Vergie and Naomi. Russell has one daughter, H. Michelle (Micki) and she preceded her father in death in 1986. Russell is survived by his wife, Mallie and several nieces and nephews. Russell was a graduate of Indianola Community High School, class of 1946. He began working at S.S. Kresge right out of high school. Later he worked for W.T. Grant stores in Joliet, Il before being transferred to their store in Inglewood, California. Later he was employed by Motor, Rim and Wheel of Los Angeles, California. After retiring he worked as typesetter for Viking Typographers of Orange County, California. In 1996 Russell and Mallie returned to Tilton and was employed by 980 WITY radio. Russell was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Danville, and served as a deacon. He was coordinator of Lay Renewal Ministries for California and was a current team member of Experiencing God weekends for Living Water Ministries of Mayfield, Kentucky. Russell was a devoted husband and served the Lord faithfully since receiving Christ as his personal Saviour in 1958. He loved studying and teaching Gods Word. He also had served as an interpreter for the deaf in his church in California and hosted foreign students in his home as they came to study in the United States. He was a Los Angeles Dodger, Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and loved doing crossword puzzles. Russell had served the local community in the past several years as Santa Claus in the Downtown Danville, Inc. Christmas parade and the AMBUCS childrens Christmas parties. He was also a past recipient of the Downtown Danville, Inc. Volunteer of the Year Award.
