Russell M. Schwab

Russell M. Schwab, a proud patriot and caring soul, peacefully departed this life on August 9, 2025, in Paxton, Illinois, at the age of 62. He was born on July 11, 1963, at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois.

A proud member of his community, Rusty enjoyed sharing his passions with those around him. He was an avid history buff, a keen enthusiast of antiquing and collecting, and took great delight in visiting his favorite restaurants, including Golden Corral, Yoders, and Olive Garden. Rusty’s love for connection was evident in his anticipation of class reunions, where he cherished the opportunity to gather with close-knit, lifelong friends.

Rusty is survived by his two brothers, Lonnie Schwab and Charles Schwab.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Barbara Schwab, and siblings, Butch Schwab, Cathy Jean Schwab, Barbara Kay Grande, and Lara Day.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for August 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Lux Chapel, 1551 E Grove Ave, Rantoul, Illinois 61866. Following the service, Rusty will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rusty’s name to the Champaign Humane Society.
