Russell 'Russ' E Leigh

Russell Russ Leigh, 47, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:44pm, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at his home. He was born on September 25, 1974, in Danville, IL. Russell is survived by: his parents, Russell E. Leigh Sr. & Debra (Ronald) Wernigk; his wife, Cindy {Rahm} Leigh; his daughter, Logan Golcynski; his brothers, Brian Allen Leigh and Robert Randall (Nicole) Leigh; his nieces & nephews, Brad Leigh, Bailey Leigh, Robbie Leigh, Sara Leigh, & Kendall Leigh; and his good friends, Todd Hughes & Hughes family, Doug Marsh, Sean Ritter, & so many more special friends. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Ashely Deck. Russ was a union carpenter for almost 25 years. He was an avid hunter and loved shooting his bow, as well as going fishing. He also loved to go walk in the woods shed hunting and shooting guns. A special time in his life was when he went on an Elk hunt with some special friends. He was well known to love hanging out with family and friends just having a beer or two. He was a member of the Ouabache Valley Frontiersman Gun Club where he enjoyed shooting. He cherished his family and was a wonderful husband, dad, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him as the true-blue genuine guy he was, especially his wife, Cindy. A celebration of Russ life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday prior to his service at the funeral home. Family requests casual attire. He will be laid to rest in Coal Creek Cemetery, Covington, Indiana. Memorial donations may be given in his name to American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 in Georgetown.
