Danville – Russell Eric Leigh, 68, of Danville passed away at 8:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on November 12, 1957, in Danville to Ralph and Imogene (Miller) Leigh.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Leigh of Danville and Rob (Nicole) Leigh of Potomac, and a daughter, Chelsea Leigh; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister, Doreen (John) Clay and a brother, Randy Leigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Russell Leigh, Jr., and a brother, Darrell Leigh.
For most of his career, Russell worked for various grocery stores in the meat department. Most recently, he was a meat cutter at IGA. Russell was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend his free time hunting and fishing, especially when he was looking for deer or bass. When he wasn’t in the woods or on the water, he enjoyed being out riding his motorcycle.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Russell Leigh will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville where he will be laid to rest with his family. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements.
