Russell G. Voyles, 88, of Ridge Farm, IL passed away at 3:54 a.m. Sunday August 10, 2008 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1920 on a small farm southwest of Ridge Farm the son of Charles Bryan and Lillie May Hayes Voyles. He married Vivian Mae Collom on July 1, 1941 in Hannibal, MO. She survives. Also surviving are his two sons, R. Eugene Gene (Jo) Voyles of Ridge Farm and Robert Dale Bob (Susie Malkus) Voyles of Fairmount; his eleven grandchildren; his twenty-three great grandchildren; and his four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Mozzochi of Ocala, FL, and Irene D. Harris of Chrisman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Carolyn Mae Scarlett, and three sisters. Russell was a retired member of the Carpenter Local #269 and retired from the University of Illinois as a finish carpenter. He was a member of the Modern Woodsmen of America. Russell enjoyed spending time with many friends from the Ridge Farm Church of the Nazarene, where he and his wife Vivian have been members since 1940. An avid nature lover, family get togethers, and visiting with family and friends were especially a favorite pastime of Russells. Near and dear to his heart was a wonderful 67 years of happiness spent with his wife Vivian. A celebration of Russells life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 13, 2008 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday August 12, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his name to the Ridge Farm Church of the Nazarene.
